Gauge bosons in a five-dimensional theory with localized gravity
نویسنده
چکیده
We consider the possibility of gauge bosons living in the recently proposed fivedimensional theory with localized gravity. We study the mass spectrum of the Kaluza-Klein (KK) excitations of the gauge fields and calculate their couplings to the boundaries of the fifth dimension. We find a different behaviour from the case of the graviton. In particular, we find that the massless mode is not localized in the extra dimension and that the KK excitations have sizeable couplings to the two boundaries. We also discuss possible phenomenological implications for the case of the standard model gauge bosons. Spherically Symmetric Solutions in a New Braneworld Massive Gravity Theory
In this paper, a combination of the braneworld scenario and covariant de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolley (dRGT) massive Gravity theory is proposed. In this setup, the five-dimensional bulk graviton is considered to be massive. The five dimensional nonlinear ghost-free massive gravity theory affects the 3-brane dynamics and the gravitational potential on the brane. Following the solutions with spherical s...
متن کاملGauge Symmetry and Localized Gravity in M Theory
We discuss the possibility of having gravity “localized” in dimension d in a system where gauge bosons propagate in dimension d+1. In such a circumstance—depending on the rate of falloff of the field strengths in d dimensions—one might expect the gauge symmetry in d+1 dimensions to behave like a global symmetry in d dimensions, despite the presence of gravity. Naive extrapolation of warped long...
متن کاملUnitarity of Deconstructed Five-Dimensional Yang-Mills Theory
The low-energy properties of a compactified five-dimensional gauge theory can be reproduced in a four-dimensional theory with a replicated gauge group and an appropriate gauge symmetry breaking pattern. The lightest vector bosons in these “deconstructed” or “remodeled” theories have masses and couplings approximately equal to those of the Kaluza-Klein tower of massive vector states present in a...
متن کاملConformal Non - Geometric Gravity in Six Dimensions and M - Theory above the Planck Energy
The proposal that a strong coupling limit of the five-dimensional type II string theory (M-theory compactified on a 6-torus) in which the Planck length becomes infinite could give a six-dimensional superconformal phase of M-theory is reviewed. This limit exists for the free theory, giving a 6-dimensional theory with (4,0) su-persymmetry compactified on a circle whose radius gives the 5-dimensio...
متن کاملInstantons and Emergent Geometry
Gravity is a mysterious force; we still don’t know what gravity is. But recent developments from string and M theories gradually reveal an intriguing picture on gravity (for recent reviews, see, for example, [1, 2]): Gravity may be a collective phenomenon emergent from gauge fields. That is, the spin-two graviton might arise as a composite of two spin-one gauge bosons. Although the emergent gra...
